In the 2014 World Cup Brazil – Germany semi-final, added time was 2 minutes after ninety minutes. And last week in the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United, added time was given for 3 minutes.

Football's governing body, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), held a conference on 'effective time' in football matches on Thursday. FIFA 's head of refereeing, Pierluigi Collina, hinted at a future law change, saying, 'In the future we could see a rule where added time is not allowed if the gap between two teams is too big. That will be through the law.'
